Bridge Project cash program provides funds for Appalachia’s soon to be mothers

West Virginia (WOAY) – An Appalachian cash program is dedicated to eradicating poverty and income inequality negatively impacting pregnant women.  

The Bridge Project is a non-profit organization offering an unconditional cash transfer program to expecting mothers in Appalachia. 

The program lasts 36 months, beginning during the third trimester of pregnancy. 

Mothers who are selected to be a part of the bridge project will receive an upfront stipend of $1,125.

A monthly total of $750 will be paid for the first 15 months of the program, and $375 per month for the last 21 months.

The program will distribute funds on a biweekly basis, with no strings attached.  

To qualify for the program, applicants must reside in West Virginia or an Appalachian state, be at least 18 years old, be at least 14 weeks pregnant or less, and have an annual income of $44,000 or less
