UPDATE: One Dead, Two In Critical Condition After Tractor Trailer Accident

UPDATE: 7:30 pm-

On Thursday, August 16, 2018, at approximately 1542 hours, an R and L Carriers tractor double trailer was traveling south on I77 around the 23 mm.

This vehicle collided with two WVPA vehicles that were parked on the side of the roadway, along with three WVPA employees that were standing near these vehicles.

One is deceased and the other two are in critical condition.

This crash is being investigated by Corporal C.I. Fields. Corporal C.N. Workman and R.A. Marsh are currently reconstructing this crash.

The operator of the tractor trailer was not injured. The cause of this crash is pending.

Traffic is routed into one lane at this time. Names involved are not being released at this time.


CAMP CREEK, WV (WOAY) – Construction workers working on I-77 Southbound on the Mercer/Raleigh County line have been injured by a tractor-trailer accident.

Officials tell WOAY that several workers were hit and multiple emergency crews are on the scene.  Two helicopters have responded, too.

It is unknown on what caused the accident or how many people are injured.

Motorists are advised to find an alternate route and expect delays.

WOAY has a crew on the way to the scene and we will continue to update you as we learn more.
