Bluefield man arrested after verbal confrontation leads to shooting

BLUEFIELD, WV (WOAY) – A shooting happened yesterday on Union Street. A man shot a semi-automatic rifle near a residence and struck a juvenile in the arm.

The juvenile was taken to the local hospital and has since been released.

Bluefield Police Department Detective Kevin Ross says that the man identified as Lashavious Stallworth had a verbal altercation with the juvenile and is being charged with five counts of wanton endangerment – one for each bullet fired near the residence.

“Initially it came out as multiple shooters. After further investigation it was found to be the guy was upset. I guess he had a misunderstanding of the situation that occurred and came out shooting,” Ross said.

More potential charges are pending against the man, but it’s not clear yet if the juvenile will press charges.
