Bluefield, VA (WOAY) – The 2018 Appalachian League season is underway, with the Bluefield Blue Jays rallying to win 8-7 over Johnson City Tuesday night in walk-off fashion at Bowen Field.
The Cardinals jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the opening innings, before Bluefield tied the game on a two-run home run from Luis De Los Santos in the third. Johnson City responded with a solo home run in the fourth, with the game continuing to go back and forth until D.J. Daniels’ single to score Leandro Cedeno.
De Los Santos batted 3-5 on the night with three RBI, while DJ Neal went 2-4 and brought in a pair of runs.
This series continues Wednesday, as will the Princeton Rays’ opening series at Kingsport. The Mets win 7-3, though Jordan Qsar did hit a two-run home run for Princeton.
