Beckley Pride to hold virtual dance party to celebrate Pride Month

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Beckley Pride had a successful year last year with new legislation protecting the LGBTQ community and even the city’s first pride event.
Since June is Pride Month, you may wonder what this year looks like for the organization. In the midst of a virus and political unrest across the country, the LGBTQ organization will not hold a traditional pride event.
“We decided that we are going to do a virtual dance party [on] June 20 at 7 p.m. and that’s going to be right on our Facebook page,” said president of the organization Christina Baisden. “People can dance wherever they’re at, whether it’s at home or outside in the backyard.”
The organization will offer grab bags from 10 a.m. to noon and from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Beckley Intermodal Gateway on June 20. For more information, visit their Facebook page.
