Beckley Police Meet With Residents

BECKLEY-  The Beckley Police Department met with neighbors for coffee and conversation at the McDonald’s in uptown Beckley today.  It gave residents the chance to voice their concerns that they may have.  The event was hosted by Chief of Police Lonnie D. Christian.  There was no set agenda or speeches, it was just a chance to ask questions, voice concerns, and get to know the police officers in the area.

“Anything they want to air with us, be here for us, so we can come off as more humanizing. Humanize the department so they can meet us and we’re not just the Beckley Police Department but they can meet the people that work the job here”, said Corporal Joseph Hunter

“Show support to our local policemen because they have a tough job to do.  So it would be nice to go out, shake their hands, and congratulate them on trying to do the best job they can do. said, Willie Taggart, Beckley Resident

The residents that came out enjoyed it and wanted to thank the officers for keeping their community safe.
