Beckley Police Found 12 Animals With No Food, No Water, And Living In Feces

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A man is in jail after officers found numerous animals in kennels with no food, no water and feces inside.

According to court documents, police arrived to a home and before going inside they could smell a strong odor of what appeared to be something deceased.

After entering the home, there was a small kennel in the living room with a large dog and four puppies inside of it.  There was no food or water inside the kennel.  Law enforcement observed a large amount of garage and animal feces throughout the entire residence.

Animal control took a total of three large dogs, four puppies, and five cats from the home.

Police spoke to the suspect, Lamar D’Shaun Palmer, who informed them he was aware of the situation with the animals and would take full responsibility for his actions.  When asked about the living conditions and odor, Palmer stated that they were moving and it was coming from the refrigerator.

Palmer was arrested and charged with animal cruelty on a 1,000 dollar bond. He is in jail on other charges, too.
