BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A Beckley man is in jail after attempting to break and enter into a home over the weekend.
According to a criminal complaint, a Beckley Police Officer was dispatched to a home due to a prowler complaint early Sunday morning. The victim reported to the officer a man who knocked on the door to the residence in question, attempted to pull on the front door handle, then reportedly went to the back of the residence and removed a screen door.
Using the description as provided by the victim, the officer identified a suspect near the residence; the victim was brought to that location for identification, and the suspect was identified as trying to break into the residence.
Frederick Hamrick is charged with Attempted Breaking and Entering. He is in Southern Regional Jail on a surety/cash bail of $25,000.
