Beckley Man Arrested For Breaking Into Church Trying To Steal Items

BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – A Beckley man is in jail after breaking into a church trying to steal items.

According to court documents, Beckley Police was dispatched to a Church on F Street in Beckley.  The pastor of the church advised that a male was wearing a red sweatshirt who entered.   Officers found, Marshall Lyons, hiding under a church pew.

Lyons made entry through a window in the downstairs of the church.  Lyons gathered multiple food items and toiletries in a bag.  Lyons blamed his actions on recent drug use.

Lyons is charged with breaking and entering and is being held in the Southern Regional Jail under a 10,000 dollar bond.
