BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – One man is in jail and on a 150,000 dollar bond for a string of break-ins into vehicles stealing valuable items.
Over the past two weeks, the Beckley Police Department investigated a series of burglaries and thefts from vehicles in the Maxwell Hill area of the city occurring primarily in the nighttime. The thefts included electronics, jewelry, power tools, clothing, food and other miscellaneous items.
On September 10, 2018 road patrol officers responded to several incidents in the Teel Road / Lucas Drive area of Maxwell Hill. Sgt. Blume and K-9 partner Ciro along with Ptl. McGhee and Cpl. Carpenter were able to track the subject (JOSEPH CLARENCE BUCKLAND II) where he was located inside of a victim’s vehicle and arrested.
An additional investigation conducted by Detective Sgt. Priddy connected BUCKLAND to several burglaries and a theft from out-buildings in Maxwell Hill. BUCKLAND was arrested for these incidents on Thursday, September 13, 2018. BUCKLAND is currently in the Southern Regional Jail on a $150,000.00 Bond.
