BECKLEY, WV (WOAY) – Beckley council members passed an ordinance last night that will allow medical cannabis to be grown and processed in the city of Beckley.
Growers are now allowed to open medical cannabis businesses in a B1, B2, and manufacturing zone. Ward 1 Councilman, Tom Sopher explains passing the ordinance is the first step in the zoning process.
“The state will be the governing body over this. The city is just allowing for areas for medical cannabis to be processed, grown, or distributed,” said Sopher.
The zoning of a medical cannabis business can be changed at any time if someone is unsatisfied and has a reasonable claim against a location.
