Today’s upper 80s to low 90s will be edged down a few degrees Thursday and the Greenbrier Valley will see a few afternoon storms.
WEATHER OVERVIEW: The heat will gradually get knocked down through the weekend. A couple of storms are expected along Route 219 Thursday afternoon between 2-6 p.m. ahead of a front pushing west from Interstates 95 and 81. These few storms will generate outflow boundaries that will spark additional isolated activity closer to Route 19 in the evening. Keep in mind the lightning in the storms could easily trigger brush fires.
The threat for storms Friday is lower across the board (Rt. 19 to Rt. 219) and then a cold front comes in from the Ohio Valley Saturday bringing most of the region at least one round of showers. The front slowly settles to the southeast by Sunday and Labor Day will be generally dry, cooler and less humid. The more fall-like pattern will continue through Tuesday before warmer temperatures return Wednesday.
