Elkins, WV (WOAY)- Officers are investigating the death of an Elkins man who was struck by a vehicle.
Authorities report that on Thursday, November 13, at approximately 5:45 PM, Troopers from the Elkins Detachment of the West Virginia State Police (WVSP) responded to reports of a vehicle and pedestrian collision at the intersection of U.S. Route 219 and Harpertown-Gilman Road.
An early investigation determined 71-year-old Mark B. Spencer had been riding a bicycle on a nearby bike trail and attempted to cross U.S. Route 219 when he was struck by a southbound Ford F-150.
Spencer was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
A WVSP Crash Reconstructionist responded, and the investigation remains ongoing.
