Athens allows residents to hold yard sales without permits during month of August

ATHENS, WV (WOAY) – The city of Athens is allowing residents to hold yard sales without permits during the month of August.

Athens does this every year to encourage the small, tight-knit community to get outside and interact with their neighbors. As well as give residents a chance to hold a yard sale without the hassle of acquiring a permit. And city officials say they’ve been seeing a lot of community participation.

“It’s good for the people to get out and communicate with each other. We’re a very small, knit town. And they just like talking with people. They’ve had a really good turnout with it.”

Yard sales can continue to be held without permits until August 31.
