WOAY – For the second straight season, the River States Conference men’s basketball Player of the Year and both Coaches of the Year all come from WVU Tech.
Junior Arrey was selected as Player of the Year, as he scored an average of 16.4 points a game while leading the Golden Bears to the RSC regular season championship. He is joined on the First Team by teammate Tamon Scruggs, while Andreas Jonsson was a Second Team selection; Jonsson was also the Golden Bears’ Champion of Character.
WVU Tech is represented on the women’s First Team by junior Brittney Justice, who finished second in Player of the Year voting behind Rio Grande’s Sydney Holden. Alexandria Gray is on the Second Team, and Makayla Jones is the team’s Champion of Character.
James Long and Anna Kowalska both took Coach of the Year honors as WVU Tech defended their two regular season championships, going a combined 31-1 against league opponents. While neither team made the tournament championship game, the squads have still qualified for the NAIA National Tournament later this month. The full field will be announced in mid-March.
