Arrest Made In Hit & Run

Update:

An arrest has been made for a fatal hit and run.  Alex Brendan Nunley has been arrested and charged with three counts of hit and runs,  one count of reckless driving, and one count of leaving the scene of an accident. All of which are felonies. Nunley is being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail without bond.

Bland, VA– Police say two women were killed in a hit-and-run in Bland County.

Police say three women were on their daily morning walk on Wilderness Road Monday morning when they heard a car approaching and moved into the ditch line in a single file line. Police say the car ran off the ride of the road and into the women, killing two of them.

Police say one woman was able to jump out of the way.

Police say 69-year-old Connie DeHart and 66-year-old Frances Burgess were killed.

Police identified the driver as 27-year-old Alex Nunley. Police say Nunley was later taken into custody and charges are pending. A number for Nunley was not listed and it wasn’t immediately clear on Monday whether Nunley has an attorney.
