Applications for the West Virginia American Water Firefighting Support Grants are Underway

CHARLESTON, WV (WOAY) – Applications are now being accepted for the West Virginia American Water (WVAW) Firefighting Support Grant program.

This program provides financial assistance to fire and emergency organizations serving communities in the company’s service area.

The areas include Boone, Braxton, Cabell, Fayette, Kanawha, Lewis, Lincoln, Logan, Mercer, Putnam, Raleigh, Summers, Wayne and Webster.

Established in 2013, the program offers grant funding to cover costs associated with purchasing personal protective gear, communications equipment, firefighting tools, water handling equipment, and training.

In 2017, WVAW contributed just over $10,000 to help 12 local fire departments purchase emergency gear, lifesaving equipment, and training materials.
