Beckley, WV (WOAY)- A Raleigh County winter tradition returns to Beckley, officially kicking off the Christmas season.
The Appalachian Coal Town Christmas kicks off at the Beckley Exhibition Coal Mine on Friday, November 28, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Visitors can take a guided underground tour deep below New River Park into the mine to learn about real coal mining history.
You can also expect to enjoy holiday carols in the church, meet up with Santa Claus, and glide across the outdoor ice rink.
The ice skating rink is $7.50 for adults, $5 for children (includes skate rental)
Adults can also do some holiday shopping at the Youth Museum and Exhibition Coal Mine gift shops, which will be open and selling coal crafts, jewelry, Christmas items, and fresh fudge.
Craft vendors will be on the scene selling one-of-a-kind items that make special holiday gifts.
The little ones will have the chance to enjoy the Youth Museum’s fun yet educational hands-on exhibits.
Make sure to bring your appetite, as food trucks will also be on the scene with good eats for purchase.
Appalachian Coal Town Christmas will be at the Exhibition Coal Mine on Saturday, November 29, Friday, December 5, and Saturday, December 6.
