WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): After yesterday’s heavy rain and severe storms, basically any rain will cause issues today. Over the last 24 hours, some areas in the region got over 2 inches of rain causing flash flooding. More heavy rain and damaging winds are likely today, basically a repeat of yesterday’s conditions. Expect some flooding in vulnerable areas, including those affected by flooding yesterday. Meteorologist Christian Boteler dives into the details:
The round of storms developing from this afternoon into tonight will once again bring damaging winds and flooding concerns. Areas of northern Fayette, southern Nicholas, Summers, Monroe, and southwestern Greenbrier county were impacted heavily by rain yesterday, making them extra vulnerable to rainfall issues today. Here’s the outlook for today’s severe weather threat:

We’ll continue to see rain tomorrow as a cold front passes through just to the north of our area. This will bring more rain and storms, though storms will be weaker. Unfortunately, flood issues may still arise due to the slow movement speed of the incoming front. Rainfall totals will vary by area, but a general half-inch to three quarters of an inch of rain is expected with more in isolated spots.

Sunday will see a slight decrease in showers before the second disturbance of this pattern passes through during the beginning of the work week. There is potential for stronger storms Monday and Tuesday as a cold front passes through, helping temperatures fall back to average while continuing water issues across the region. Thankfully, after some lingering showers, we will stay dry for most of Wednesday and Thursday next week. Here’s the 7-Day Forecast:
