WOAY-TV (Oak Hill, WV): Like yesterday, patchy fog is expected to linger for a couple more hours. After lifting later this morning, skies will remain mostly sunny through the day. Temperatures have been cooler so far, but will become warmer this afternoon. While temperatures peak in the mid-70s, humidity will be modest enough to make things comfortable. Low temperatures tonight will drop into the upper 40s and lower 50s once again thanks to clear skies allowing more heat to leave the surface.
The nicer conditions will continue into Wednesday. Temperatures will rise into the upper 70s and lower 80s during the afternoon and skies remain partly cloudy. Conditions will remain dry for one more day, which presents another opportunity for outdoor activities. However, the weather pattern will change overnight and into Thursday morning. There is a slight chance for a stray shower or two overnight, but the low-pressure system approaching the region will likely bring rain into the region Thursday morning. The incoming low-pressure center will miss us to the north. However, this system will drag a cold front into the region, bringing widespread rainfall in the form of showers and thunderstorms. The Storm Prediction Center has our region in a “Slight” severe weather risk on Thursday, once again indicating scattered severe storms in the region. Storms that develop along the front will have the potential to become strong or severe. Damaging winds up to 60 miles per hour are the main concern. Heavy rain is possible as well, while hail and tornadic activity are not as likely. We will have a better handle on these storms as short-range models start mapping out what we could see for the second half of the week.
The front will pass through the region overnight, but showers and storms will linger into tomorrow. Another disturbance will move through the region on Friday, bringing more widespread rain during the morning and afternoon hours. Severe weather should be limited thanks to the morning showers, and storms will break down and dissipate over the evening and overnight hours. Thursday and Friday will present us with some much-needed rain, but you should stay aware during the second half of the week in case a strong or severe storm ends up in your area.
This weekend will be gorgeous once again. A high-pressure system will bring sunny skies into the region for Saturday. Temperatures will stay in the mid-70s as the cold front that passes through on Thursday keeps things moderate. Temperatures will increase slightly on Sunday, but the nice conditions will last through most of the day. It will be a wonderful weekend to head outside and enjoy anything you want.
