An Oak Hill man is in jail for allegedly stealing a car

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) –  Sheriffs Deputies with the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a residence in Scarbro regarding a stolen vehicle complaint. The complainant reported his Chevrolet Corvette was stolen from his property.  The owner also reported that a license plate from another vehicle at his property was missing.

Officers with the Oak Hill Police Department later located the Corvette in their city.  The vehicle displayed the missing license plate.  Israel Gilkey (44 of Oak Hill) attempted to tell police that it was his car.  Officers took custody of the stolen car so that it could be returned to the owner.

Deputies arrested and charged Gilkey with a felony offense of Grand Larceny. Gilkey was unable to post the bond set by the Fayette County Magistrate’s Office and was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail.
