CHARLESTON (WOAY) – The WV Senate Finance Committee voted 9-8 along party lines on an amendment that Sen. Boso, R-Nicholas County, proposed to the pay raise bill that would lower teacher, school service personnel and state trooper pay raise to 4 percent, with intention of including in budget bill a 4 percent raise for all public employees as well.
The Yea’s were: Boley, Boso, Drennan, Ferns, Gaunch, Blair, Sypolt, Maroney, Takubo
The Nay’s were: Arvon, Facemire, Mann, Palumbo, Plymale, Prezioso, Stollings, Unger
The Senate Finance Committee amended HB 4145, the teacher, school service personnel and state trooper pay raise bill. It lowered the raises from 5 percent to 4 percent.
WVEA President says the statewide strike will continue indefinitely if pay increase is less than 5 percent
The bill now goes to the Senate floor. It will need 28 Senators to support the bill for it to pass tonight.
If it passes the Senate it would then have to go to the house for a vote.
