“All’s fair” at the Historic Fayette Theater with their fall play

FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- The Historic Fayette Theater is excited to bring a comedic family-friendly show for all to enjoy. They will open their fall production of ‘All’s Fair’ next weekend.

If you enjoyed last year’s production of ‘The Hitchen Post,’ then you’ll enjoy this year’s show. It’s by the same author, Pat Cook, and has the same style.

“It’s a comedy about a county fair, the Noah County Fair in Flat Rock, Texas,” said Cindy White, Director of the show. “It is a day at the fair that starts in the morning, goes to the end of the day, and you just meet a number of interesting characters. There is a little plot twist in the middle of the second act. It’s just funny characters with very unusual personalities.”

With this cast of characters, there’s not just one lead.

“This play’s interesting because there’s not really a lead. Everybody’s story is being told at the same time. So we all have lead roles, which is pretty fun,” explained Missy Strong, actress who plays Iola Jackstraw.

“She’s right. There’s no specific lead in this play, which is a completely different thing than in my experience,” said Wes Reid, actor who plays Mayor Ceasar Clatterhand.

There’s a storyline and a joke for everyone in this play. Going out to see this play doesn’t just give you a night of laugh’s, it helps the theater continue to run in fayette county.

“Any show that we do, pretty much we try to use those for just covering our operating expenses just to keep the theater open, like utilities,” said White. “So we have to have several shows a year just to keep paying the heating and the lighting bills and the water bills and the insurance and all the things that have to keep the theater running.”

So if you want a chance to support your local arts and get a good laugh while at it, go check out the hft’s fall play all’s fair. However, before you go, two characters will like to leave you with this thought going into it.

“Be ready to laugh, Be ready to meet lots of interesting characters at the county fair,” said Strong.

“Be ready to vote for Mayor Caesar Clatterhand,” said Reid.
