Adventures Keeps Winter Months Fun

LANSING– Adventures on The Gorge is typically known for whitewater rafting and zip lining, but they have plenty of activities to keep you busy in the winter months. like this weekend’s medieval themed murder mystery dinner.
Marketing Director PJ Stevenson says, “It’s a small crowd with forty five people max. Everyone gets assigned a character and they all play a part. So it’s not where you sit and watch people on stage, everybody has to be interactive and gets to act out their medieval fantasy in this case.”

So how exactly do these events happen?

“They start by getting an email in advance with their info telling them what to dress up like. We expect everyone to come in costume. Then you get some objectives of things they need to find out about people in the cast and try to get all the secrets by trading coins. Then the murder happens and then they try to solve the murder,” Stevenson said.
This weekend’s dinner is already booked but there are plenty of other winter activities to choose from, like dine around the world.

“The next winter dine around the world event is the Chinese New Year the last weekend of January. Then we will do a valentines dinner over the Valentine’s Day weekend. We do a creole event to celebrate Mardi Gras and then an Irish dinner at Smokey’s for St. Patrick’s day.”

Stevenson says these events are a big draw for people from all over.

“There’s not a whole lot going on in Fayetteville in the winter time and it makes it a little more fun. We get people all the way from Parkersburg and Clarksburg, Lewisburg and even some out of state folks. They like the new river gorge and they like to experience what it has in the winter time as well.

So even though the area is typically a summer destination, you can get through the winter months a little easier with Adventures on The Gorge because its all doable on a tank of gas.
