FAYETTEVILLE, WV (WOAY)- Active Southern West Virginia (Active SWV) will be holding the Active Southern West Virginia Bridge Day 5K on Saturday, October 20th, 2018.
This is the only race to go across the New River Gorge Bridge and the only day of the year runners can experience crossing the bridge on foot while taking in the view over 800 feet above the New River.
The Official Bridge Day event is West Virginia’s largest one day event with anywhere from 60,000-90,000 visits each year. Base jumpers parachuting from the bridge is a huge highlight of the day.
The Active Southern West Virginia Bridge Day 5K is a great way for people of all ages and abilities to join in on the festivities in the morning before the base-jumping begins.
The Active SWV Bridge Day 5K is a fundraiser for the Active Southern West Virginia Kids Run Clubs. Fundraising races like this help support all of Active SWV’s programs which are free and help motivate area residents, businesses, schools and local governments to make physical activity a personal and regional priority.
