UPDATE: Name of victim who passed in U.S. Route 19 accident has been released

UPDATE (7-25-2018)- Fayette County Sheriff’s Department told WOAY at 10:50 a.m. that the name of the victim that passed in the car accident is 30 year old, Stevie Watts.

Stevie Watts was the guitarist in the band Black Garlic that was well known in Fayette County.


UPDATE:  A motor vehicle accident in Oak Hill results in the death of a 30 year old man. Sheriff Mike Fridley released the following information regarding this incident.

At approximately 3:30 pm this afternoon the Fayette County 911 Center received notifications of a motor vehicle accident on U.S. Route 19 at the Route 612 intersection. Upon arrival responders found that a small SUV collided with a mini-van.  The driver of the van died as a result of injuries sustained in this accident.  The driver of the SUV was transported to Plateau Medical  Center and is listed as stable.

Deputies worked the accident to determine what occurred and are also attempting to make contact with family members of the driver of the van.  Also providing emergency services were Jan Care, General and Priority Ambulance,  as well as the Oak Hill Fire Department.

FAYETTE COUNTY, WV (WOAY) – One person is dead and another in critical condition after a two-car crash.

Emergency officials were called to the scene of a car crash on Route 19 near Route 612, just outside of Oak Hill at around 4 pm.   One person died on the scene and another was taken to Plateau Medical Center in critical condition.

It is unclear what caused the accident.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the accident.
