WYTHEVILLE, Va. (WSET) — A Wytheville man is facing charges after Virginia State Police said he threatened a man and a woman at Wytheville Community College.
Police said Alexander E. Dunford, 21, pointed the gun at the couple and “dry” fired it, which is the practice of “firing” a firearm without ammunition.
Neither the man nor the woman were injured.
Dunford was arrested on two felony accounts of attempting to maliciously shoot an individual, two felony counts of use/attempt to use or display a firearm in a threatening manner, and one count of brandishing a firearm.
He’s being held in the New River Valley Regional Jail until his next court appearance on Tuesday.
The incident remains under investigation.
