A Local Tavern Serves More Than Just Drinks

Sir Walter’s Tavern and Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre in Beckley have combined a traditional “Dinner and a Show” into one location.
“We try to do plays four to six times a year. We do show a lot of old movies and we do a lot of concerts, and we’re going to try and do some comedians this year,” said General Manager Suzanne Wiseman.
But that is not all of the entertainment that they provide.
“Tuesday’s are Taco, Tequila, and Trivia Tuesdays. We’ve got delicious tacos for $2 a piece, and margaritas for $4,” said Wiseman.
And if you are a whiskey fan then maybe their Wednesday specials are exactly what you are looking for.
Suzanne said “Whiskey Wednesday is a very relaxed atmosphere. All of our top-shelf whiskey’s are $1 off and all of our other whiskeys are half off so you can come get a pizza and a whiskey for a good after work environment.”
They also display and sell local art.
Wiseman explains, “We do a lot of art shows featuring local artists. We have a lot of themed art shows and our next art show is “The Super Fantastic Galactic Art Show” which is all spaced themed so it is going to be really neat.”
And if you are a college student on a budget, they haven’t forgotten about you.
“All West Virginia Tech students get into movies and plays for free,” said Wiseman.
And the best part of all this entertainment is, you can do it in less than one tank of gas.
