A Fayette County woman has been arrested this evening on child abuse allegations

GAULEY BRIDGE, WV (WOAY) – Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to Montgomery General Hospital regarding a complaint that a patient, a 16-year-old juvenile, had been attacked by his mother. Further investigation indicates that the juvenile was struck numerous times by his mother with a tire iron during an argument between the two. This incident had taken place at the suspect’s mother’s home in Gauley Bridge.

The mother of the victim, Michelle Rene Saunders, 35 of Glen Ferris, was arrested on the felony offense of Child Abuse Resulting in Injury. Saunders was unable to post the $10,000 bond set by the Fayette County Magistrate’s Office and was remanded to the Southern Regional Jail. Child Protective Services was notified of the incident, and the victim will remain in the custody of his grandmother.
