'A Christmas Carol!' starts tonight at the Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre

BECKLEY, WV (NEWS RELEASE) – Tree House Arts Ensemble and The Raleigh Playhouse and Theatre are proud to present this year’s live theatrical production of A Christmas Carol! This Christmas classic, based on the novel of the same name by Charles Dickens and adapted for the stage by Mark Ferrians and Brenda Chapman, tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge as he is transformed from an old, Christmas-curmudgeon into a holly-jolly, jovial fellow. Treehouse Arts Ensemble have been performing this show in the Beckley area for a number of years, with each Christmas season offering a slightly different production of the area favorite.

This year’s production is directed by Sandra “Sandi” Shrewsbury, and features actor Gene Worthington in the lead role of Ebenezer Scrooge. Many local businesses have come out to lend assistance to the event, showing their support for the local theatrical community. Furthermore, members of Treehouse Arts Ensemble, staff members at The Raleigh Playhouse, and individual members of the Beckley community at large have come together to assist with the production, making sure every last detail from costumes to light cues fall perfectly in line with the director’s vision.

The show runs from Friday, December 8th until Sunday, December 10th, with showings at 8 PM on Friday and Saturday and a matinee performance at 2 PM on Sunday. This Christmas classic is appropriate for all ages, and is a family-friendly production. Your entire family is sure to enjoy this production, which lasts roughly two hours with a short intermission between the first and second act. Tickets are on pre-sale now online at TheRaleighWV.com  or can be purchased at the door before each show begins.
