4th Grade Mullens Students Participate In Black History Month

MULLENS– 4th grade students at Mullens Elementary School celebrate Black History Month a little later this year.

The 4th grade students had the opportunity to research different candidates and then choose the one they wanted to do a project on.  The students then created presentation boards and dressed up as different famous African Americans.  Other classes, parents and teachers walked around the gymnasium and asked the different students about their project and who they were.

“He broke the color barriers for all black baseball players and I thought it would be really interesting and he has accomplished in seven other sports.” said Caleb Thompson.

“I picked her because I like to dance and it is just fun to learn about her.” said, Kiley Simmons

Fourth grade teacher, Cara Brown, said, she has been doing this for a few years now and it has been a great success, many of the students seem to enjoy it.
