Two Arrested After Drugs And Needles Were Found Within A Child’s Reach

OAK HILL, WV (WOAY) – An Oak Hill couple is arrested after drugs were found in a car where a young child was within reach of uncapped needles and pills.

On Monday, May 14, 2018, an Oak Hill Officer pulled over a white Suzuki on Central Ave for failing to use their turn signal.  When Officer Stalnaker approached the vehicle there was a needle in plain sight and also a spoon that contained residue in plain sight with numerous straws with white residue in plain sight.

The driver was identified as Jason Rinehart and the passenger identified as Amy Briers, her child, which was less than 3 years old, riding on her lap with no seatbelt on either one of them.

Officers later discovered a pill bottle that contained 5 oval pills which were later identified as hydrocodone and alprazolam.   As the search continued, numerous needles, one uncapped needle spoons with white powder residue, straws with white residue, a crack pipe with residue, aluminum foil that had been used to heat up his heroin, a knife, 26 tramadol pills and IV drug.

The needles and uncapped needle, and drugs were all within the reach of the child.

Jason Rinehart is charged with possession with intent to deliver a schedule IV drug, possession of a controlled substance, and child neglect.

Amy Briers was charged with possession with intent to deliver a schedule IV narcotic, possession of a controlled substance and child neglect.

Both were taking to SRJ and are under a 25,000 dollar bond.
