2 young children killed in I-64 accident in West Virginia

MILTON, W.Va.— Police say two young children have been killed in an accident on Interstate 64 in Cabell County.

Media outlets report the accident occurred Friday night in Milton.

Cabell County Sheriff Chuck Zerkle says a car driven by the children’s mother crossed through the median and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer. Milton Police Cpl. Dean Bishop says a pickup truck that was towing a camper also was involved in the accident.

Police say the two children were pronounced dead at the scene. The woman and a girl in the car were taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries.

The cause of the accident remains under investigation.
