CHARLESTON - Federal mining regulators issued 135 citations during the December impact inspections.
The U.S. Mine Safety and Health Administration said it also issued 24 orders following inspections at 11 coal mines and two other mines.
The inspections began in 2010 following the Upper Big Branch Mine Disaster that killed 29 coal miners. Since then, MSHA has conducted 700 inspections, issued 11,562 citations, and 1,076 orders.
