GHENT - Thursday marks the seven year anniversary of the Little General Gas Station Explosion in Ghent and a blood drive will honor the victims.
The memorial blood drive is held annually on January 30. The American Red Cross was there the day of the explosion, according to Donor Recruitment Representative Scott Hill. The families of the four people killed work through their loss and organize the drive every year to turn their tragedy into something positive, said Hill.
"These families have stepped up and really touched our hearts and our soul when they step up and help their community even through their loss," Hill explained.
The memorial blood drive will be at the Ghent Volunteer Fire Department Thursday from noon to 6 p.m. To schedule an appointment, call 1-800-RED-CROSS or click here
