Blood drive encourages locals to give the "gift of life"

OAK HILL - Folks gave the "gift of life" at a blood drive Tuesday in Oak Hill.

The drive was held outside the Plateau Medical Center's Rehabilition Center. Someone in the country needs blood product every two seconds, according to Donor Recruitment Representative Scott Hill. That need does not go away in the winter, when drives at local schools can get cancelled due to inclement weather.

Micah Harris, a nurse at Plateau Medical Center, said he chooses to give blood because he sees firsthand how the donations help patients in crisis situations.
