Some relief to residents without water

BECKLEY - The White Pines community in Raleigh county is still without water tonight. Water pipes have been frozen now since last Tuesday.

Monday, community members, the Salvation army, and Family Worship Center's Beckley Dream Center offered some relief. They went door-to-door passing out bottled water and hot meals including spaghetti and warm bread. Some 80 hot meals were delivered to the elderly and those who are sick and shut inside.

Shelby Warden with Family Worship Center says they react when there's a need whether it's near or far.

"The families out here were in need of water. So, anyhow we called and Friday we brought out water and homemade soup. Today, we brought out spaghetti and bread," Shelby Warden.

More than 100 mobile homes are occupied in the White Pines community. Property Manager Lori Stanley says it's been tough finding the source to their frozen water pipes. Stanley adds once the ground thaws out, rising water should pinpoint the problem.
