Abandoned house catches fire

DEEP WATER - Montgomery fire officials said the structure fire in Deep Water is still under investigation, although they do not believe the cause is suspicious

It happened at a home on Deepmont Subdivision Rd. in Deep Water at 3:39 AM. According to family members, keys were in the door of the residence, but nobody was living in the house and all belongings had been removed as well. No injuries have been reported, but family members told Newswatch the house was not able to be saved due to technical difficulties with fire hydrants in the area. Officials told witnesses, and the family, that there was a storng gas smell coming from within the home. Sister of the home owner said she did not believe there to be any electricity coming to the house. The Montgomery, Loup Creek, Armstrong Creek, Boomer, and Smithers Volunteer Fire Departments, along with Jan Care ambulance crews all responded to the scene.
