Pauley pleads not guilty to sexually abusing his daughter

FAYETTEVILLE - Around 25 people are arraigned in Fayette County Circuit Court on Thursday morning for the next grand jury term, including a man charged with sexually abusing his daughter.

Carl E. Pauley, 38, of Oak Hill, is charged with eleven counts of sexual assault and abuse: two counts of sexual assault in the first degree; two counts of incest; two counts of sexual abuse by a parent, guardian, custodian or person in a position of trust to a child; three counts of attempted sexual abuse in the first degree; one count of unlawful assault and one count of child abuse resulting in injury. He pleaded not guilty on Thursday to all counts.

Pauley sexually abused his daughter in the early part of 2011 when she was eight or nine years-old, according to the criminal complaint.

Pauley is in Southern Regional Jail on $30,000 bond. His jury trial is scheduled for March 14 at 9 a.m.
