RAINELLE - Two people were booked in jail late Monday night after police said that they stole 37 checks from one suspect's adoptive mother.
Clarence Miller, 29, was charged with 25 counts each of conspiracy to commit forgery and conspiracy to commit uttering. Tiffany Ramsey, 32, was charged with 37 counts each of conspiracy to commit uttering, conspiracy to commit forgery, uttering, and forgery.
Rainelle Police Chief J.P. Stevens said that the two were living with Ramsey's adoptive mother when they stole a book and a half of checks and depleted her bank account. Stevens said both Miller and Ramsey confessed to their part in the crime.
They are lodged in Southern Regional Jail until they're arraigned Tuesday morning.
