CHARLESTON - A Beckley man accused of
setting fire to a Charleston apartment while an acquaintance and a 4-year-old
child were inside pleaded guilty to arson.
U.S. Attorney Booth Goodwin said Antonio LeJune Wade, 29,
entered the plea Thursday in federal court.
In August, Wade set fire to clothes that he had placed
beneath a wooden staircase connected to the apartment. The staircase was the
only entrance and exit to the residence.
Goodwin said Wade knew the acquaintance and toddler were
inside when he started the fire. The two escaped unharmed.
Wade faces at least five years in prison when he is
sentenced on April 2.
