BECKLEY - One location of a cell phone chain is promoting mobile apps to help consumers keep and stay on track with their New Years resolutions.

Employees at U.S. Cellular have named My Fitness Pal, Mint, Lose It, Khan Academy and Skype as helpful tools to meet New Years goals because they say mobile devices have become a vital part of our daily routine.

From sticking to your workout routine with My Fitness Pal to keeping in touch with family over Skype, U.S. Cellular said the apps are great ways to get started on working toward your goals and achieving them in a fun way.

“It allows you to monitor it right on your handset, so it's technology that can travel with you, and so as you're thinking day to day what resolutions you have set for the year, you have it right at your fingertips, and what better way to do that than having it on your phone with today's latest technology,” April Taylor said.

A study by Prosper Mobile Insights found that more than one in four U.S. smartphone or tablet owners planned to use their smart mobile device to help them keep track with their resolutions.
