CHARLESTON - Get ready to pay a little
extra at the pump.
Beginning January 1, the gas tax increases and motorists will
pay an additional penny for a gallon of gasoline in West Virginia. The one-cent
increase is due to the state Tax Department's annual recalculation of the
average wholesale gas price.
This recalculation increases the tax
to 54.1 cents per gallon. Officials say the variable rate helps to keep state
funding for roads in line with inflation.
