KEGLEY - A fire in Mercer County remains under investigation after it rekindles Sunday morning and forces crews to continue work.
The early morning fire at 286 Howrey Road in Kegley was still causing problems on Sunday afternoon. 4 fire departments were called on scene for the original fire and reported that nobody was hurt. They had to return to the residence after the wind rekindled the flames. Officials said the home owner was not present at the time of the fire, and has yet to be located. A vehicle parked in the driveway was also completely destroyed because it was unable to be removed from the area. Officials said the State Fire Marshal will be contacted to further investigate the blaze.
Lieutenant Aaron Beeman said, "when we arrived the home owner wasn't here, we're still trying to locate the homeowner at this time. The State Fire Marshal will be contacted to do a thorough investigation on what caused the fire."
East River Fire department was the only fire department on scene Sunday afternoon when it rekindled.
