CHARLESTON – Two state arts agencies are seeking nominations for the 2014 Governor's Arts Awards.

The West Virginia Division of Culture and History and the West Virginia Commission on the Arts are accepting nominations. The awards honor artists and arts organizations that have made significant contributions to the state's culture, according to officials.

The honors include: the Arts in Education Award, the Distinguished Service Award to the Arts, the Leadership in the Arts Award, the Artist of the Year Award, and the Governor's Arts Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Nominations must be postmarked or hand-delivered by February 21. A panel of commission members and representatives will select the winners.

A ceremony and gala to present the awards will be held in the spring at the Culture Center in Charleston.
