SPRINGDALE - A Fayette County man wanted for kidnapping turns himself in to authorities Tuesday morning.
Larry Junior Nelson, 36, of Springdale, is charged with kidnapping and domestic battery after allegedly striking his girlfriend in the head, abducting her, tying her up and dropping her off at a strip mine on Christmas evening. His girlfriend had managed to escape and alerted authorities.
Sheriff Steve Kessler said his deputies had been searching for Nelson since late Christmas night. Kessler said Nelson turned himself in to Sergeant J. R. McMullen around 9 a.m. Tuesday, after calling McMullen the day before to alert him of this decision. Nelson states he knew police had been searching for him, but he waited until McMullen had returned to work because he trusted McMullen to treat him fairly.
Nelson was arraigned in magistrate court and remanded to Southern Regional Jail in lieu of bond, according to Kessler. Nelson will remain in jail until he can be arraigned before a circuit judge and have a bond set.

She managed to free her legs and walked through the woods for about 90 minutes before reaching a residence where she could seek help.

SPRINGDALE – The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office is
searching for a Meadow Bridge man in connection with a Christmas Day
Dispatchers were notified just before 8 p.m. Wednesday that a Spring Dale woman was abducted in the Meadow Bridge area and had
managed to escape, according to Sheriff Steve Kessler. Kessler said the victim
stated she had gotten into an argument that afternoon with her boyfriend, Larry
The victim stated that when she attempted to leave their
residence, Nelson struck her in the head, tied her feet, tied her hands
together and gagged her. She stated that Nelson had then driven her to a strip mine in the area of Springdale Church Road, where he had shoved her out of the vehicle. The victim also stated that she had managed to free her legs and
walked through the woods for about 90 minutes before reaching a residence where
she could seek help.
EMS was called to the scene, but the woman's medical condition
is unknown as this time. Deputies attempted to locate Nelson last night but
were unsuccessful in their efforts to apprehend him.
Nelson faces charges of domestic battery (misdemeanor
offense) and kidnapping (felony offense). Anyone with information concerning
