UPDATE:

SPRINGDALE - A Fayette County man wanted for kidnapping turns himself in to authorities Tuesday morning.

Larry Junior Nelson, 36, of Springdale, is charged with kidnapping and domestic battery after allegedly striking his girlfriend in the head, abducting her, tying her up and dropping her off at a strip mine on Christmas evening. His girlfriend had managed to escape and alerted authorities.

Sheriff Steve Kessler said his deputies had been searching for Nelson since late Christmas night. Kessler said Nelson turned himself in to Sergeant J. R. McMullen around 9 a.m. Tuesday, after calling McMullen the day before to alert him of this decision. Nelson was arraigned in magistrate court and remanded to Southern Regional Jail in lieu of bond, according to Kessler. Nelson will remain in jail until he can be arraigned before a circuit judge and have a bond set.

The incident remains under investigation and anyone with information is ask to call the Sheriff's Office at 304-574-4216.
