RAINELLE - A children's carnival, held in honor of a special man, touched many lives in Rainelle on Sunday.
Jonathan Thomas..,. who passed away June of 2012, was memorialized at the final day of a children's carnival. Rainelle Medical Center hosted a toy distribution this weekend to help under priviledged children have an extra special Christmas. Thomas's family and friends attended the event to volunteer, pass out toys, serve refreshments, but most importantly; to remember the generous man Jonathan Thomas was. They said they hope to expand the event, making it bigger and better every year.
"This is what it's all about. It's to keep my sons memory going; it's what its all about, it's what Christmas is all about. This is what my son would want, he would want these kids to have toys in his honor. To keep his name going. This is what helps us to keep going during this time of year. It's been far better than we ever anticipated. We've had... We haven't turned anyone away and we've had to much success. The kids are wonderful," said Darla Thomas, mother of Jonathan.
The Rainelle Medical Center employees said they will continue to collect toys, food, clothes, and shoes throughout the year to help local kids all year round.
