OAK HILL - Hundreds of Fayette County kids are getting their Christmas presents early on Saturday during an annual toy giveaway in Oak Hill.
Organizers with the Fayette County Christmas Toy Fund distributed bikes, games and other toys to as many as 650 kids at the 33rd annual event.
Organizers prepared for the giveaway Friday when they stuffed stockings and bagged goodies. The Toy Fund worked closely with with the Department of Health and Human Resources, local churches and the Head Start Program to choose families to assist.
"It's just something that we can do to give back to the community and to the children, and it's basically something we enjoy -- seeing the faces of the children, and that they're happy," organizer Susan Ingram said. "A lot of them are very happy, and you can see it on their faces, and they say, Thank You' and 'Merry Christmas,' so it's very rewarding."
