BECKLEY - Santa made a special appearance for families at a breakfast event held in Beckley.

The Appalachian Regional Hospital hosted a "Breakfast with Santa" Saturday to ring in the Christmas season. Santa was not the only guest of honor at the event; the Chik-fil-A cows, and Mr. Funny Bones entertained and posed for photos.

Families brought their children to the hospital's gymnasium to eat breakfast, color Christmas pictures, play and dance to Christmas music.

Rhonda Kania said the event started as a fundraiser, but has turned into a fun - raiser.

"We hold it at the hospital be, like I said, it started as a fundraiser for our Capitol Campaign, which is our building project; the renovations we've done to the fourth floor, and also to the outside of the hospital. So we just hold it here to let people know that we're open to the community and we're here for them," said Kania.

Organizers plan to make the event annual because of it's success for the past 2 years.
