MABSCOTT - Military families around the state will soon receive Christmas presents and holiday meals purchased with thousands of dollars in donations.

The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary held its annual Christmas Giveaway for Giving Hearts in Mabscott where representatives with the Army National Guard collected gifts to be disbursed to military families.

About 68 families and 200 people will receive gifts purchased with thousands of dollars donated by the community, organizers told WOAY.

"Our goal obviously is to get larger and bigger every year," Regina Fairchild said. "The more donations we do, the more we can afford to do for our families, and what better way to give back to people that are giving so much of their time and their lives for us."

The Friends of Coal Ladies Auxiliary would like to thank residents and businesses for their generous donations this year.
